לָפַת
לָפַת(b. h.; cmp. לפף) 1) to twine around, cling to, clasp. Ruth R. to III, 8, v. לָפַף; Tanḥ. Bhar 3 (expl. וילפת, Ruth l. c. ‘he felt himself embraced) כמו דאמרת ויִלְפֹּתוכ׳ as you read (Jud. 16:29) and Samson clasped 2) (cmp. כָּרַךְ) to wrap up, to insert, combine (dishes).Part. pass. לָפוּת, pl. לְפוּתִין. Koh. R. to VII, 7 (expl. לִפְתָּן) שני תבשילין ל׳ זה בזה two messes combined. Pi. לִפֵּת same. Ab. Zar.38a; 59a לְלַפֵּת בו את הפת to go with bread as a relish.
